THE 10 + 1 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GET ON BOARD

What is a catamaran, what do I need to bring for a boat trip, how many people are on board ...? All the answers to your questions before participating in an excursion aboard a Maxi Catamaran under sail!

1. Why sail on a sailing catamaran? What is the difference between a catamaran and a monohull?

A catamaran is a boat with two parallel hulls of equal size, which in turn have two keels that provide great stability. As they have no ballast, they are lighter than a monohull.

The main strengths of the catamarans are:

  • Comfort: The heel or inclination is practically null.
  • Stability: Smooth and safe navigation, avoiding motion sickness as much as possible on board. The movement is pitching and not rolling.
  • Speed: It is greater than that of a monohull, which translates into less time for the intended destination.
  • Habitability and space: The surface in square meters of habitability practically doubles to the same length compared to a monohull. It is better ventilated, it is brighter and its 360 view from the inside is unbeatable.
  • Comfort: Thanks to its low draft, you can get closer to the coast or go through places where a monohull would be impossible.
  • Independence: By having two helmets joined by the salon, it allows different groups or couples to have their own space on board, separated from other people.
  • Safety: It is the safest type of boat not only for the most experienced sailors but also for those who get on a boat for the first time, whether it is an older adult or a child. The catamarans are designed to be unsinkable, leaving watertight holes that guarantee buoyancy in the event of a capsize.
  • Low consumption: It uses little fuel, also favored by sailing when weather conditions allow it. By having large surface sails, you can also sail with little wind and enjoy a quiet walk along the Costa Blanca.

2. Do I need navigation experience to participate in the tours?

Not at all. Our tours are designed so that the whole family can participate. For greater safety, the catamaran is equipped with guardrails (thick cables) that serve as grip for the elderly and containment for children and babies.

3. How many maximum passengers will come on board? How many crew members will be there?

For the comfort of our passengers, we have limited the capacity of the boat to 62 people, when these boats usually accommodate 100 people. The distribution of the 72 seats allows you to vary the place throughout the day, as well as     to circulate and dance.

4. Do we sail or motor?

Although the maxi catamaran has two engines, we fundamentally sail. Thanks to the large surface area of its sails, it is possible to sail without an engine even when the wind is very light.

This represents a benefit in two ways: for the planet and for the passengers. On the one hand; by minimizing fuel use, pollution and environmental impact is much lower. And on the other hand, sailing is much more pleasant for passengers, without the unpleasant smell of diesel or the noise of the engines. Sailing is for those looking to relax and enjoy the silence of the ride.
